Play therapy is a form of counselling that uses play as a way for children to express their emotions, process experiences, and develop coping skills.Through toys, art, and imaginative activities, children communicate in their natural language—play. A trained play therapist observes and engages with the child, helping them work through challenges and build emotional resilience.

-
Answer:
Each session typically lasts 45–50 minutes.During the session, your child will have access to toys, art supplies, and other tools for self-expression. The therapist will create a safe, supportive environment to help your child explore their feelings and experiences.
While sessions are child-led, the therapist may gently guide activities to support specific therapeutic goals.
-
Answer:
Parent involvement is a key part of the process. It becomes even more important when working with younger children. While sessions focus on the child, regular parent consultations are included to share insights, track progress, and discuss strategies to support your child at home.
In some cases, parents may also participate in joint sessions with their child to strengthen the parent-child relationship.
-
Answer:
Every child is unique, so the pace of progress varies. Some children may show changes after a few sessions, while others take more time to build trust and work through their challenges.Play therapy focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment for your child to grow at their own pace.
Regular parent consultations will help you understand your child’s progress and how to support them outside of therapy.
"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”
